Seniesa Estrada made history in women’s boxing by becoming the first undisputed champion in the strawweight division after securing a unanimous decision victory over Yokasta Valle on Friday night in Glendale, Arizona.
Entering the ring with the WBA and WBC titles, Estrada (26-0, 9 KOs) faced off against Valle (30-3, 9 KOs), who held the IBF and WBO belts. Following a competitive bout, Estrada emerged victorious with scorecards reading 97-93 across the board.
Reflecting on her achievement, Estrada expressed her long-held desire to become undisputed, stating, “It’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time… I accomplished my dreams.” Despite facing physical challenges during training camp, including injuries and pain, she emphasized her determination to persevere and strive for greatness.
Valle, who endured a cut over her right eye early in the fight due to an accidental headbutt, voiced her disappointment and hinted at perceived intent behind the incident. “I did feel [the headbutt] was intentional… I had to struggle through that for the last nine rounds,” she remarked.
Despite the contentious nature of the match, both fighters retained their respective positions as the top contenders in the division, maintaining their rankings at No. 1 and No. 2.
